If you head north from Zagreb, you will find yourself surrounded with an immense sea of hills topped by tiny baroque churches, and covered in vineyards, orchards and forests. This is Northern Croatia, where you can enjoy looking at fortresses from the Middle Ages, as well as castles and manor-houses, you can visit interesting museums, and relax in the thermal springs in numerous spas. Here it is as though the spirit of the last few centuries and old Croatian nobility is still lingering over towns and villages, awakening travelers’ imaginations. • Hušnjakovo – the world’s most important finding site of early men with museum
• Marija Bistrica – the largest shrine dedicated to Virgin Mary in Croatia
• “Old Village Kumrovec” – the biggest ethnographic open-air museum in Croatia that represents traditional typical village from late 19th ct. with birth-house of Josip Broz Tito
• a visit to the Gallery of Antun Augustinčić in his birth-place, village of Klanjec
• beautiful, romantic castles – Trakošćan, Oršić and Veliki Tabor, with their interesting museums
• Varaždin, Croatia’s “town of baroque”, and once the seat of Croatian ban and the Parliament
• beautiful, the most northern part of Croatia called Međimurje with central town Čakovec and interesting “Road of tradition”
